Title: Behavioral Health Worker
Classification: Professional
Reports to: Director of Pupil Services

Primary Function:
Under the direction of the Pupil Service Director/Supervisor of Special Education, supports and supplements the work of school psychologists and counselors with providing recommendations and assistance for behavioral health services in a confidential manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Psychology, Social Work or other acceptable Social Science field with specialized training or experience in Behavioral Health Services and coursework and/or training in behavioral health counseling. PA Certification in School Counseling is highly preferred. Possesses knowledge of current trends in behavior development, professional practices and assessment; excellent communication and human relation skills; strong organizational skills; possesses a multi-disciplinary perspective, and has a background in technologies used in assessment and data collection and analysis required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assists staff with providing individual assistance and group sessions to students referred for behavioral health services, including crisis intervention.
- Assists staff with providing direct observations of students for behavioral health assessments
- Collects information, including behavioral charts on students and develops appropriate reports and files.
- Assists staff with providing appropriate interventions to remediate student’s problematic behaviors in conjunction with team assessments.
- Participates in risk assessment.
- Assists with writing behavioral and mental health goals for students.
- Coordinate and in-service staff in the implementation of behavioral programming.
- Provides information and advice to appropriate staff during pre-intervention, applied intervention and post intervention stages.
- Develops, maintains and implements appropriate documentation formats to be used by staff.
- Consults with Case Managers as required.
- Communicates with and informs parents on students and services.
- Attends and participate in Student Assistant Program activities.
- Assists teachers in developing sensitivity to the particular needs of individual students and in utilizing referral procedures.
- Assists faculty with the development and implementation of best practice(s) necessary to meet the needs of students.
- Makes use of test data, assessment findings and other available data and resources.
- May participate in individualized education program planning, and other similar activities that supplement the total educational program objectives.
- Confers and meets regularly with building and district administrators, department chairpersons and others to assess the need for training sessions or changes in existing programs.
- Maintains personal professional growth and development through professional affiliations and attendance at seminars and workshops.
- Keeps abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise and use of technology.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
