Position Extended School Year (ESY) Coordinator
Reports To Director of Pupil Services or Designee
Job Summary
The ESY Teacher Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, and daily operation of the Extended School Year (ESY) program for eligible students with disabilities. This role ensures instructional services align with IEP requirements, state and federal regulations, and district expectations while providing leadership and support to ESY staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Program Coordination & Oversight
- Coordinate daily ESY program operations
- Ensure ESY services are delivered in accordance with students’ IEPs
- Develop ESY schedules, student rosters, and staffing assignments
- Monitor student attendance and service delivery documentation
- Instructional Leadership
- Support ESY teachers with curriculum alignment and instructional strategies
- Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are implemented
- Observe classrooms and provide instructional feedback as needed
- Collaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, counseling, etc.)
- Staff Supervision & Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ESY staff
- Address staff concerns and assist with problem-solving
- Ensure staff compliance with district policies and procedures
- Facilitate ESY staff meetings and trainings as required
- Log classroom visits, tracking attendance and engagement of students and staff
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district guidelines
- Review and monitor service logs, progress notes, and required documentation
- Communicate with special education administrators regarding compliance issues
- Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding program procedures
- Collaborate with building administrators, transportation, and support staff
- Serve as liaison between ESY staff and district administration
- Health, Safety & Behavior Support
- Support implementation of behavior intervention plans as needed
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed
- Respond to student or staff incidents and escalate concerns appropriately
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree with required valid Pennsylvania certification; Special Education Certification highly preferred. Five-years teaching experience with experience working with students with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of IEP development and implementation. Possesses knowledge of current trends in Special Education, compliance, instructional practices and assessment; excellent communication and human relation skills; strong organizational skills; and possesses a multi-disciplinary perspective. Experience with coordinating or supervising staff.
Working Conditions
- Temporary summer position
- Hours and duration aligned with the ESY program calendar
- May involve travel between ESY sites
- Planning hours conducted in district in collaboration with the Pupil Services Department
