Title: Saturday-School Detention

Units: 4 per position

Location: Marple Newtown High School

Number of Positions: 2 (1 per semester) 

Job Description: Saturday-School Detention is a supplemental position dedicated to creating a safe, structured, inclusive, and supervised environment for all students at Marple Newtown who are assigned a Saturday-school administrative detention.

Effective: 2026-2027 School Year

Qualifications:


  • Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events.
  • Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills.  

Ability to work with students of all ability levels.

  • Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.

Essential Functions

  • A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the supplemental
  • Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships.
  • Advisors will supervise Satruday school detention from 7:55 a.m. to 11:00 a.m..
  • Accurately track and monitor student attendance using the provided detention list and submit a behavioral infraction referral through the SIS for those not in attendance.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student assignments to detention.
  • Enforce all school rules, expectations, and classroom management, including maintaining a quiet work environment and prohibiting cell phone use while addressing any behavioral concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Allow students to complete academic work during the detention period.
  • If the faculty advisor is unable to supervise on a scheduled date, they are responsible for securing their own coverage. If unable to secure coverage they must communicate with administration. 
  • Any anticipated conflicts should be communicated in advance to administration.
  • Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.

Frequency of meetings: Weekly with the exception of specific Saturday’s throughout the school year. There are approximately ——-days of Saturday school detention each semester.


Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students

Clearances: In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and All related clearances.




MNSD Supplementary Contract Unit Values 2026-2027 
1-2 years experience - $438.00
3, 4, 5 years experience - $475.00
6 years & over experience - $510.00
