Position:                    Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning

Reports To:                Superintendent             

 

Primary Function:    The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning provides leadership, assistance, and supervision for the efficient operation of units and elements of the organization involving curriculum and instruction. This position also provides supervision to the instructional leadership team and is responsible for their ongoing development. The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning researches and evaluates the curricula, teaching procedures and educational materials within the education system K-12, provides leadership, technical expertise, and deliverables across a broad array of district functions and responsibilities. Will be responsible for collaborating with educational committees and advisory groups within the community to develop the most appropriate curricula to meet the needs of the students. The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning will provide advice to teachers, school administrators and support staff and will coordinate and initiate training in the use of educational materials and techniques. Will advise educators on how to comply with local, state, and national standards, as well as work closely with the Superintendent to apply the board's policies and regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

 

Masters degree with Valid Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility, Administration or Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction Certification; 5 years teaching experience; experience in staff training, curriculum development, and instructional improvement.  Building level administrative and/or supervisory experience and Doctorate preferred. Possesses knowledge of current trends in curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment; excellent communication and human relation skills; strong organizational skills; possesses a multi-disciplinary perspective and has a background in technologies use in curriculum assessment and data collection and analysis.
