THE FOLLOWING SUPPLEMENTAL POSITION IS OPEN FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR AT MARPLE NEWTOWN HIGH  SCHOOL:

                                                                                STEM Advisor

 

 

Title: STEM Academy Advisor

Number of Units: 4

Location: Marple Newtown High School

Number of Positions: 3

Job Description: Oversee and coordinate all STEM enrichment activities and events associated with the STEM Academy.

 

Effective: 2024-2025 School Year

Qualifications:

 

·         Experience: Must teach at least one of the STEM Academy courses.

·         Skills: Organizational, managerial, and communicative skills along with planning events in accordance with the STEM Academy needs.

·         Education: Valid PA teaching certificate.

 

Essential Functions:

 

·         Advise the Student Board.

·         Committees for: Fundraising, STEM Connect and Academics.

·         Committees work towards a STEM Youth Night/Elementary Visit.

o   Multi-station experience with an introduction to STEM principals.

·         Oversee Mentorship Program.

o   Pair underclassman with an upperclassman within the STEM Academy.

o   Peer review for coursework, scheduling, etc.

o   Community Building Events.

·         Oversee student contests.       

·         Schedules and supervises guest speakers and/or workshops where students engage and interact with professionals in STEM related fields.

·         Attending STEM Professional Development as deemed necessary by Teaching and Learning team.

·         Attends monthly STEM meeting with Administration (STEM Connect).

·         Attend meetings with community partners to explore future partnerships.

·         Conduct and attend STEM Applicant Interviews and review all applications.

·         Field Trips.

o   Complete and submit paperwork to transportation.

o   Hold meetings with STEM students to discuss the field trip and provide students with permission slips and waivers, if necessary.

o   Collect field trip money from students.

o   Fill out forms for deposit.

o   Contact the nurse and staff with students attending the field trip.

o   Attend the field trips and provide support as needed.

·         Provide follow-up meetings, as needed.

·         Other duties as assigned by Administration.

·         Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.

PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release -

A separate form must be completed for:

  1. Current employer; and
  2. All former employers that were school entities; and
  3. All former employers where you were in a position that involved direct contact with children.
