                                                                            Flag Football Head Coach

 

Title: Flag Football Head Coach

Number of Units: 8

Location: Marple Newtown High School

Number of Positions: 1

Job Description: Supervises, coordinates and promotes all phases of the high school PIAA athletic flag football program. The coach assumes responsibility for teaching student-athletes the sport of flag football and utilizes demonstrations of skill development progression to teach fundamental skills and team strategy. Teaches sportsmanship and stresses responsibility to one's team and respect for others; plans and schedules conditioning activities to develop sport fitness needed to achieve a degree of individual and team success. The person is directly responsible to the principals and athletic director and works in cooperation with the faculty manager.

 

Effective: 2024 – 2025 School Year, Spring Sport

 

Qualifications:

·         Experience: Coaching experience preferred.

·         Skills: Written and verbal communication, Interpersonal skills, Ability to connect and related to high school age students, and Leadership.

·         Education: Minimum of High School Diploma/GED and Coaching preferred.

 

Essential Functions:

 

·         Ability to teach flag football techniques, flag football rules, flag football strategies and playing tactics.

·         Ability to teach sportsmanship, cooperation and responsibility to team members.

·         Demonstrates through experience, a commitment to devote long hours and weekends to the flag football program.

·         Conducts a pre-season and post season flag football conditioning program.

·         Ability to supervise and conduct safe practices and contests.

·         Ability to accurately assess the talents and abilities of team members.

·         Ability to promote athletes to college recruiters.

·         Participate in a successful recruitment program.

·         Ability to display competency in coaching philosophy, knowledge of PIAA rules and regulations, MNSD School Board Policy, and NCAA Student- Athletic Eligibility requirements.

·         Ability to respond to player injuries by using first aid techniques.

·         Must be able to maintain uniforms, equipment and school facility.

·         Must be able to supervise bus, locker room and team members.

·         Must be able to monitor team members' attendance, grades and personal conduct.

·         Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies.

·         Conducts other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Athletic Director of the school.
